When you hand sew big areas with really thick fur (like in the photo) even if you push all the fur through as you're sewing it'll look better if you go back in with an embroidery needle. With tiny seams it's less necessary

The trick is to take a really big embroidery needle and use it to shove the fur back to the right side. You also have to sew with most of the fur on the right side already (pushing it back in place as needed) - which is really easy if you just tape the fur down before starting
