Back in the 1990s in an airport bar in Venezuela I ordered "ron y coke." The waiter asked "¿cubalibre?" Being American, I didn't know that this was what the rest of the world called "rum and coke." I emphatically repeated myself. He brought me a pint glass of rum and a warm bottle of coke.
