Under Starmer the UK benefits system is attacking the poorest sections of society. Labour has overseen an average monthly number of 51,607 sanctions imposed, nearly all for very minor infringements such as being late or missing an appt. with a work coach, but resulting in destitution & debt.

Climate activists staged a protest outside the Treasury yester- day morning to demand a tax on billionaire wealth. Obviously this isn't going to happen under Labour, the Tories, or Reform; so this is another signal environmental struggle has had to move towards revolution.

The reason for expanding fossil fuel production is that it is just much more profitable than switching to renewables. The problem is that governments are insisting that private investment should lead the drive to renewable power but private investment only takes place if it is profitable to invest.

The absurdity of capitalist planning - the world’s governments provided $956bn in direct fossil fuel subsidies in 2024: just $300bn/year was pledged at Cop29 in 2024 to support the most climate-vulnerable countries.

Israel used banned cluster munitions in its invasion & bombing of Lebanon. Cluster munitions indiscriminately disperse multiple bombs over a wide area, causing high casualties & suffering: these were manufactured by Elbit Systems – the arms company Palestine Action sought to stop.

While some were released in the ceasefire, Israel still holds 80 Palestinian medical workers from Gaza without charge: they face physical violence, medical neglect, & starvation, languishing in Israeli prisons. Their only crime is providing health care for non-Jewish Palestinians.
