I couldn't *stand* his style as a young kid, then *adored* it as an older teen/adult. His style was instantly recognizable, even though it was also "realistic". That's a golden set of attributes. RIP. (And yes, your style is equally "golden".)

Shaolin Soccer is a little more messy, a little more hit or miss with the humor, but it's well worth the watch.

Rewatched this just a few months ago. Really holds up. And shocking that after this he did Kung Fu Hustle (the apex!) and then largely bowed out. Only a film here and there. But damn. Two absolute masterpieces before he did.
