Landscape photography enthusiast, based in northern Minnesota. Trying to maintain a little pocket of peace and sanity in a world full of ignorance, corruption and hate. Images are my own, unless noted. My website: daveberthiaumephoto.com

Yeah. More than likely this was some light pollution from nearby Grand Marias.

I shoot in RAW format, so you have to do some color processing. It's not like a JPG where the camera does all the processing for you. For this image, I didn't modify the tint at all. I did bring up the colors a little bit in the sky and actually de-saturated the foreground.

You can definitely see the Milky Way in these dark areas, but you need a longer exposure to bring out the detail and color. It looks more washed-out to the naked eye.

Thanks! This is along the Gunflint Trail.

Minnesota has over 10,000 lakes, so that's unlikely! I'd rather not divulge the exact location, but it's along the Gunflint Trail near the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Yes- it's a 20 second exposure to bring out the detail and the colors.

Not a stupid question! In a dark spot like this, you can definitely see the Milky Way with the naked eye. You need longer exposures like this (20 secs) to bring out the color and the details though.

Yes! This is a lake on the Gunflint Trail.
