Hey @joshuadysart.bsky.social. I'm teaching 8th grade this year, and my students just got homework this week to read Living Level 3 as a companion piece to the novel A Long Walk to Water. We're going to be doing some compare/contrast writing pieces with them.

You know how I feel about Scheider. Highly underrated in a decade with Steve McQueen, Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro at the forefront. All of them were great actors, but he always felt a bit more natural or authentic to me.

I have a six-year-old grandson, and he's an absolute blast. We have a lot of fun, and he has a wonderful imagination. You'd make a great Pops Zircher.

Those are some tough choices. C or D if health is a factor with D being my first choice.

I had to steel myself to watch the Jeff Buckley documentary. A period of my life revolved around his music, my radio show, and his mother, who was a friend I made through his music. It hit me with an emotional wallop. But that was his music in a nutshell. His life and his music were inseparable.

Do it. You will not regret it. The pastries alone are worth the journey ;-)

This reminds me of La Rochelle in France with the brick structure and color. You definitely got those old world vibes into this.

I had a chance to read this when Liam finished it. I was hooked right off the bat. Make sure to get a copy. Or buy it for someone who is a reader in your life.

Great film and great score. I'm a huge fan of William Friedkin and Roy Scheider. Tangerine Dream was on a different wavelength and still are.

As a teacher, I suspected this would happen based on my observations of student engagement and attention spans over the last few years, but it's worse than I thought.

Sounds like my late night burger place I went to last night. They have mini margaritas called "Lil Larry." It's really a shot of tequila with a little bit of margarita.

I have a new constant companion at my side. This is all I wanted for my birthday, and the family delivered.

There are a lot of things competing for our attention, and it's big business. I feel like future generations will look back harshly on us for giving kids such easy access to social media and smartphones.

The Washington Post published an article about the decline of reading last week. Leisure reading among U.S. adults 15 and older has dropped 40% in the past 20 years, and people’s attention spans while looking at screens averaged 2½ minutes in 2004, later falling to an average of 47 seconds in 2016.

I went to Peche on my last trip. A genuine delight. Cane and Table, Commander's Palace, and Loretta's (Best beignets in New Orleans in opinion) were some spots that I loved.

I miss you, mate. I hope you and your family are doing well. Please give them my best!

It certainly hits hard with the ending. Joyce described Dubliners as a novel about a city rather than a collection of short stories. It's stages of life and the use of epiphany as a motif felt so natural, not didactic at all. I keep coming back to it.

Joyce was the 1st writer to have a profound impact on me. I read Dubliners in 9th grade, revisiting it many of times over the years. While in Dublin, I did the Joyce walking tour. We finished at the Gresham Hotel. I was asked the read the end of The Dead by the guide. It was the highlight of my trip
