Ooooooh, new roster rules and player spend strategies? Does that have to be hand in hand with new CBA, or could it be unilateral like addition of TAM was?

I believe so. For each cold complaint there’s a counterpoint for heat in South.
Re: transfer optimism - apart from better deals, it means a full season with your summer signings instead of leaving open slots while wait for targets to finish their season. And no more submarine by selling mid year.

Right? I’m so glad they’re (apparently) doing it. V much in favor. But should have done it when the World Cup was already making you adjust your schedule!

For sure. It’s a trade off. I’d miss those summer games. Personally I think it’s well worth it to improve product on field by aligning with transfer windows, and to put playoff games where they’re not competing with World Series or football or interrupted by those damn intl windows

One thing the article points out is that they would still be playing pretty similar months to now. To use your example, Toronto hosted plenty of MLS playoff games (including the Cup final) in Nov and December.

One thing the article points out is that they would still be playing pretty similar months to now. To use your example, Toronto hosted plenty of MLS playoff games (including the Cup final) in Nov and December.

and that summer is where your biggest games would be! End of season and playoffs. Which right now are up against football — and even worse, IMO, the international breaks killing all playoff momentum

Obviously there are lots of trade offs wrt weather and reduced conference rivalry, but overall I like it a lot and think it would be a big step forward

Would love for enough owners to see this and realize what they’re missing out on if they don’t invest more and MLS gets shut out of the next edition. The way the ConcaChampions have been going, that’s a very real possibility. Miami only in because US host, LAFC v fortunate to get second chance

Hard disagree. I’m an LAFC fan. Seeing them go against teams from other leagues, and measuring ourselves and our league against them is super enjoyable

I agree. It seems like folks are framing the Fox dropoff as evidence of Apple deal as a failure, while you could just as easily argue it as evidence of success driving subscriptions

I watched MLS all year on Apple TV, so of course I watched the final there too. I’d expect any fan who cared enough to buy the pass did likewise.

Really appreciated this one. Reading the first Murderbot on tor.com led me to Raksura, Ile-Rien, and a whole back catalog that demonstrated once again how many amazing, prolific authors are still out there waiting to be “discovered.” Award winning and yet was still under the radar somehow
