The fine folks at @anthropic.com released Claude Code this week. Their initial release included source maps. They quickly rectified that oopsie, but not before I went on a wild goose chase to learn more! daveschumaker.net/digging-into...
Digging into the Claude Code source (and also saved by Sublime Text) - Dave Schumaker
As I mentioned yesterday, Anthropic released Claude Code. I saw it pop up fairly soon after it was announced and downloaded it rather quickly. One thing that I thought was notable was that you inst…

Nvidia is currently down 16% today on account of Deepseek creating a SOTA reasoning model for cheap.

A blog post this weekend layed out why they are overvalued (and deep dives into how AI models are developed). An all around awesome read and so perfectly timed.
The Short Case for Nvidia Stock
All the reasons why Nvidia will have a very hard time living up to the currently lofty expectations of the market.

It's time for another exciting installment in "how I use GenAI". Extracting my reading list from GoodReads.
Using AI: Extracting reading list from GoodReads
I feel like I want to start creating some posts related around how I, as a software engineer, personally use generative AI tools. I think they are a huge boon for increasing productivity, exploring…

I was playing with Sora and ended up creating a music video about my ACL tear. It's AI all the way down and took about 3 hours to do. Ridiculous!

I'm sorry, Benson. We're definitely not going to let you out right now.

I'm reading some article on all these drone sightings in NJ and there are a number of example images of the "strange aircraft people are seeing."

Am I crazy or is this literally just a helicopter?

I was so, so, so looking forward to seeing these guys at the Fillmore this week. Alas, my knee had some other ideas. No punk rock shows for me for the foreseeable future.

(Last time I saw them was 2017 in Berkeley — pre-COVID time doesn't seem real)

Didn't feel any shaking, but got the alert on the phone! Our hanging lights were swaying ever so slightly.

I was trying to compare the reasoning abilities between QwQ and Llama3.2 and had to come up with exceedingly more ridiculous scenarios to try and break Llama3.2.

Alibaba released their QwQ advanced reasoning LLM that you can run on your own devices. Like OpenAI's o1 model, it uses chain-of-thought reasoning to solve complex questions.

It's pretty impressive! However, if you ask it about… oh, let's say the Tiananmen Square Massacre, it shuts you down cold.

My weekend:
- Play paintball with some friends for the first time ever.
- Get shot in kneecap in first 10 seconds.
- Fall and tweak my leg / knee somehow. Can't put any weight on it.
- Went to urgent care. Got crutches. Now have an MRI due to concerns about legiment damage.

Been traveling for work this week — to the mothership (9 years as of today! 🙀). The views from the office are neat.

A random rabbit hole I've been going down: trying to write a system prompt that an LLM can follow that would allow it to play Codenames. It's… not trivial. Llama 3.2 completely fails. ChatGPT gets it after a bit.
