At the same time the speech was about all the middle powers, and (IMO) correctly set a path for us all. Starmer never seems to communicate strategy, let alone vision and (again IMO) that is his core weakness

Yes. I try to find points of agreement even with people who shout at me on the Internet, then when we do agree (it could be me changing my view) count that as a win

Exposure to demands for payment based on fair value calculations. It’s unfortunately a terrible mess how these valuations are carried out, at least as I understand them

I think it has likely crossed the chasm in terms of use, but you are right that there is an issue with financial return. My technically informed but non-expert view is that the required compute will become orders of magnitude less energy expensive - much of it in the end it is analogue style compute

lol sounds eminently plausible. Bumped into some local Lab activists/officers quite a while ago - around the time of Brexit from memory - and let’s just say their comments were not complimentary.

Interesting. Not for me and I’m a leftie. I do think we can be a bit stick in the mud at times, also that moving fast and breaking things in public services is rarely a smart idea, because unlike in the private sector there is no fallback alternative. I’m a private sector person TBH.

That might be the plan. Very tricky. My hope is some in the US armed forces will refuse to do some things for him as a consequence. I just hope I’m right

My guess is yes. Because it isn’t actually Star. I gather in fairness that Coors/Molsen (?) have invested in the Prague brewery but for some reason it’s product doesn’t manage to enter this country in significant quantities, apart from being sold in specialist locations. Wonder why? 🤔
