A lackadaisical young spoony. Rebelling against his god and ready to eat sausage. Must make a definite effort to partake of a vegetable. Photographer. Bookworm. Masshole, you’d like him.

Welllll maybe not.

This is why the “stop buying from” just doesn’t work. It all supports the capitalist hellscape. Even if you buy local when possible, someone local uses your payment to pay for their Amazon subscription. Capitalism itself is the problem, and we can’t disengage easily.

Hope is great. We need caffeine.

Mini-review of Tokina 300/4. AF is fast enough and accurate enough. Super deep cropping, it looks a touch fuzzy, so unsure if it’s a slight AF miss or hand shake or the lens just being less sharp at f/4 because it’s older.

Either way, it gets the job done, and for the price you can’t beat it.

I’d missed the previous auroras, and I wasn’t going to miss this one. It started with a whiff of pink, and then THE SKY EXPLODED. The substorm didn’t last long, but it was an emotional, surreal experience. Nature is amazing.

And last, we have the Fox News (ugh) Christmas tree. This one hurt bc I love the decor. Simple red/gold/white is my fav. The peace dove was moving.

Sad irony to see a beautiful tree right next to the marquee selling tidings of hatred and fear (esp the pro-death penalty shit). Made me cry.

I don’t remember what this place was, but I came down from the top steps, not realizing there was a line for photos at the bottom. So I shuffled to the side and got photos without interrupting the selfie takers (and I don’t fault the selfie takers at all - selfies are fun).

Bryant Park. We ice skated here later than morning but the snow had stopped. My kid is … new to ice skates and it was massively crowded so we only made it around twice. I was insanely jealous of the lucky ducks who paid out the nose to skate at Rockefeller two hours earlier, but Bryant was nice.

Not a particularly notable tree, but I loved the setup at Steinway. I love playin piano, and fantasized about walking in and jamming to my own arrangement of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (I’m an atheist, but you can rock that tune).
