The inflorescence of Acaena novae-zelandiae (Bidgee Widgee). I love these guys in the Australian bush other than they look like Covid & are impossible to get out from your socks & shoelaces when they’re dry!

Because it’s Australia, here’s the fifth deadliest snake in the world just casually coming into camp at Johanna Beach for a drink last week! Plenty of tiger snakes on the Great Ocean Walk!

By the time of my visit yesterday, the flower remained incredible to see (& still slightly phallic) but the ‘scent’ was virtually gone.
