On this day in 1993, Nelson Mandela was made a Freeman of Glasgow and 8 other cities and local authorities in the UK. This was before he was elected as President of South Africa.

Happy Nelson Mandela International Day. He was born on this day in 1918. We held a 70th birthday concert for him at Wembley Stadium in 1988.
