I hope it can get unbanned too. It feels very much like punishing the good people for the actions of the bad people.

The frustrating thing about this is that I know (from administering communities myself) that the bad people are generally outsiders who do not care and who will set up alt accounts.

* WSM3 The Groundling's Guide to Spelljammer: www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewtopic...
* WSM4 Greyspace: The Greyhawk Crystal Sphere: www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewtopic...

Maybe we can organise in a topic in the forum and work out how best to get Reddit to unban r/spelljammer.

...over there, we have tried to be productive and have been working on a free Spelljammer fanzine called Wildspace Magazine. We already have four issues out:

* WSM2 Elves of The Stars: www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewtopic...

Oh, is that why r/spelljammer got nuked. I've tried to appeal the ban, but have not gotten through to a human yet.

You could go to the Spelljammer forum at @thepiazza.bsky.social for niche D&D space lore:
www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewforum...

Rather than be salty about the Astral Sea...

Oh he is sexy. And he is funny too. He is so smooth on the sets that it makes you feel he is totally at home on the imaginary space ship.

Do Operation Annihilate...but on a Spelljammer planet with evil flumps! 🤣

Jonathan Frakes has some sort of back problem. So he did that and also the weird thing where he gets onto chairs like he is mounting a bike or a horse, to make things easier for his back.

The getting onto chairs thing is super-weird and I didn't notice it until someone sent me a supercut video.

Thanks Jay. I hope that helps you create awesome low-level Spelljammer content.

BTW: If you are ever interested in having groundling PCs go into space, check out my "Foreshadowing Spelljammer" in Wildspace Magazine:
www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewtopic...

The fanzine is free to download.

2e Spelljammer lore does have it's own issues, but 5e Spelljammer lore was all new built from the ground up.

The 5e team knew the old lore and tossed almost all of it out. When called out on *their* Hadozee backstory WotC originally didn't want to take responsibility for their own screw up.

Hadozee were already sentient in 2e, when the IEN teamed up with them - 5e turned Hadozee into small gliding animals that were uplifted and enlarged by magic from one wizard.

It was an anonymous person at WotC who published this lie about 2e lore, when 5e fans first called out the new lore.

The original 2e lore has the Imperial Elven Navy discover the Hadozee homeworld during an orc / elf conflict known as the Unhuman War (later the First Unhuman War).

The 5e team decided to dump the Elven Imperial Navy and replace them with Astral Elves, so the old Hadozee backstory had to go.

You have fallen for disinformation if you believe the 5e Hadozee were "copied & pasted" from 2e Spelljammer.

5e Dragonlance, Planescape and Greyhawk are somewhat similar to the original settings (with tweaks to fit with new rules) but 5e Spelljammer is a major reboot from 2e lore.

SJR4 Practical Planetology includes a ring-planet called "Nivil":
spelljammer.fandom.com/wiki/Nivil

Nigel Findley clearly based Nivil on Larry Niven's Ringworld.

SJR4 does not state what crystal sphere Nivil is located in. (Personally, I would give it it's own bespoke crystal sphere.)
Nivil
Nivil is a planet in the Spelljammer campaign setting.[1] From the edge of the system, Nivil looks like a fine blue ribbon forming a great circle around the sun. Closer in, the surface of the ring app...

1st level PC spacefarers are people from mundane lives in wildspace who are starting out on an epic journey that will have them see things that nobody they grew up with has ever seen.

But they are still as clueless at fighting monsters and pirates as groundlings are, when they start out.

So there are farming asteroids in space, just like there are farming communities around every real-world city.

There are also fishing ships that go out to catch space fish and other edible wildspace creatures.

Also most NPC spacefarers never leave their own crystal sphere.

Asteroids, like Bral, do not have enough land to feed the population of the city.

A newbie spacefarer is going to be something like a child of farmers on one of the farming asteroids close to The Rock of Bral, who understands what a spelljamming ship is but has never left their own asteroid.

If you want ground-based neogi adventures, Neogi Nest from WGR2 Treasures of Greyhawk & Wreck of the Mindspider from Lords of Madness: The Book of Aberrations might help.

The Web Enhancement "The Flow of Fresh Brains!" might also help:

That is illithids though.

I've thought of doing that and doing it on a planet called Spiral.

I would let players think Spiral was a homebrew world, but it's actually in the Cloakmaster Cycle novels and gets invaded in the Second Unhuman War.

I'll write the idea up for Wildspace Magazine (the free SJ fanzine) at some point.

I want the full version of the video created for the Cancelled Spelljammer Simulator Ride at Universal Studios:

This thing would have been magnificent!

I have come here to chew birthday cake and make a new forum.

And I'm all out of birthday cake!
May 31, 2025 at 7:57 AM
That does seem a problem.

I've heard people talking about some sort of time-travel between Ravenloft and the Material Plane.

Maybe I could put dangerous Chronamancer stuff on Material Plane "Barovia world". 🤔
