New Release! Yes, I do, in fact, write spicy romantic comedies (adjacent). They're about couples finding their various humorous ways through the perils of desire and marriage. It's all in good fun):

For what it's worth, Swalwell is striking a different tone:

PROMISING

Eric Swalwell sounds optimistic. I hope he's right. Perhaps MTG is just the first defector with more to come.

What's their name? Get The Led Out"? "No Quarter" is the best Zep tribute band I've ever heard.

Happens to the best of us.... Have you heard about Pacific Palisades?

Fair and balanced doesn't come to mind.

Funny Story: As a kid growing up in South Florida, I accidentally burned down a 52-acre island owned by Capone (meaning, left it a sand bar). Now it's a park.

I've said elsewhere, maybe even on one of your earlier threads, that she reminds me of the type you might see lingering in a bar at last call. It could be a dive bar or a swank hotel bar, and she looks woozy and like she's had a hard life. You feel sorry for her, but not tempted. Not in the least.

I came across Thoreau's writings and Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" in close succession, and quickly became a climate activist. Nixon was still president, and the furies of the '60s were still fresh in my mind. It was perfect timing.

A close relative penned this letter a few days ago to his local paper. It sums it up very well:

The war on drugs won't end until the world ends, which is even more unsettling in this context.

Here's a lonely paragraph, grabbed at random from the 1st draft of WIP ("The Happy Wife"):

I've been expecting him to invoke the act since April:

I have a feeling Trump will invoke the Insurrection Act tomorrow if the demonstrations have big turnouts.

I loathe horror movies. There may be something wrong with me. I'm referring to my first sentence; I don't mean generally.

Someone help me understand why he's honoring Trump with a visit.

This is very encouraging. I don't understand why our reps weren't confronting their GOP counterparts in Congress from "Liberation Day" on. Fortunately, they're getting into the game now, including Jeffries, as Ben makes clear:

Things seem to be coming to a head. If Chicago somehow erupts (or it's made to look that way), Trump will finally invoke his beloved Insurrection Act, and that'll be it for next year's elections. No one agrees with me on this point, but I have a feeling I may be right.
