After nearly 17 years covering science and research stories on the #Oregon coast, I never get tired of ocean views. This is the world's smallest harbor in Depoe Bay, where citizen scientists keep an eye on the whale migrations.

A highlight of the year for me was seeing the moment the last Klamath dam came down and the lower river was reconnected for the first time in a century. Tribal members, fishermen, ecologists and others worked for decades to make it happen. A good reminder that progress is a long game.
