50-something, married gay dude. Slightly cranky. Loves dogs, hates mayonnaise. KCMO
My roasted tomato, bacon, gruyere and parm bruschetta was good. The other was herbed cheese and prosciutto with a peach, black current, and Sichuan pepper jam, and it was awesome.

It has suspect origins but its become tradition here, its time for Lemon Pig! Hoping the new year is kind to us all.

Christmas decor back to the basement. One sourdough loaf about to bake, one doing its final rise. Husband building Legos, pitbull asleep on the couch. Peace is good.

Walked into my husband's family's gathering today, set down my side dish, and was immediately handed a spill-proof cranberry cocktail. Hoping your day was good as well!

Pro tip: if you make more yeast rolls than you need you can hand pick the ones you take to dinner and no one in your family will know about your careless portioning.

My dead-end street exchanges food gifts at Christmas, just among the neighbors. Our neighbors at the top of the street got backyard chickens in the spring, and they brought us a little carton of eggs, with an instruction card for how to handle fresh eggs. I am ridiculously excited.

My Santa head tree is maybe done. There's a lot going on but I feel like it needs something. Gonna stare at it for the weekend and see what I think.

It sounds ridiculous but our ancient plasma TV puts out just the right amount of heat for proofing dough.

My yeast rolls are a little bit misshapen but super soft and very flavorful.

The pitbull is unsure what to think of his new jacket.

Rory got a much needed bath today and I'm excited for tonight's pre-sleep cuddle time.

The Venice airport has a Dolce & Gabbana store. Paris has Hermes and Bvlgari and Rolex. I want to say US airports need to step it up but is anyone really going to buy a Rolex at the airport?

So ready to be home with the pitbull but tomorrow is going to be a long damn day. Venice to Paris to Atlanta to KC. 🤞

You walk around Venice at night and find the prettiest views.

Me, after another bowl of macaroni carbonara.
November 8, 2025 at 3:19 PM
Venice has this restaurant called Pasta & Pasta. Kind of an Italian Chipotle. Pick your pasta, pick your sauce, off you go. I'm not a huge pasta guy but this carbonara was tasty as hell.

St. Mark's square is chaotic but so beautiful you kind of don't mind.

Dubrovnik. Just look at it.
November 4, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Dubrovnik, Croatia is probably the most beautiful coastal town I've ever visited. Still cannot wait to get home and hug this boy.

Montenegro is amazing.

This trip has everything.

The Blue Mosque is beautiful. Time it right though, when its time for prayer they're getting you out quick.
