Surprised to hear that the Barbican Theatre screwed up so badly. When the last test happened a couple of years ago I was in the same venue and the lead actor appeared before the show to clearly ask everyone to switch off all phones, leading to no interruptions.

The ONLY access to this 900m long development (386 residential units, 246 student rooms and 243 hotel rooms) is via the narrow concrete ramp in front of West Hendon Station. At one point the pavement width is less than 1m and cannot be widened.

This proposed development in Hendon is horrific. A strip of land 900m long by 18-26m wide, sandwiched between the M1 and a major railway line to be filled with 6 linked towers rising to 29 storeys above a multilevel podium.

Treading a fine line between hilariously weird & downright creepy, Burnt Toast at Battersea Arts Centre is an extraordinarily memorable show.

First Capital Connect ceased operating services over 10 years ago, but nobody has updated the signs at Highbury & Islington.

Love a theatre content advice sign and am intrigued to discover whether the single depiction of vomiting will be linked to the consumption of cooked chicken in the second act...

I have read many Design & Access statements over the years, but claiming that a 25 storey tower is necessary to "celebrate" an open space & nature reserve and makes it "far more accessible and visible", really takes the biscuit.

Planning application for redevelopment of the Great North Leisure Park (Finchley Lido / Vue Cinema / Hollywood Bowl / Restaurants site) has been submitted. 1502 flats in multiple blocks between 8 and 25 storeys.

As another December ends it is time to trawl though the vast number of shows seen and draw up my annual list. In no particular order, here is my selection of the best (and worst) theatre I saw in 2024.
