Palm Sunday – Sunday April 13th, 2025 Luke 23:26-56
Introduction Usually my wife is at school and picks up the children and takes first crack at homework. This means making sure my children do 20 minutes of reading time… even though they try to convince me their teachers “don’t really care” about it. This means they study for upcoming tests. And this usually means we study vocabulary words. My son's definition this past week deals with literary terms like flashback, imagery, and climax.

Here was a mandatory trait for British Methodism which needs to be mandatory for all Global Methodist Clergy. In Kevin Watson’s Doctrine, Spirit, and Discipline: A History of the Wesleyan Tradition in the United States (#ad) he says this about early Methodism: 1785 Minutes (the Methodist Episcopal a Church's first polity book) repeated language from the British Methodist minutes about a preacher's potential objection that they did not have a "Taste for reading."

The Moxie of God

In a recent sermon, I shared an intriguing story about a toy that captured my attention—the Moxie robot. Marketed as the first AI companion for children aged 5 to 10, this robot promised to chat, engage, and even befriend its young owners with a touch of artificial intelligence.

Preaching is a unique profession in many ways, especially when it comes to managing your schedule. It’s a curious blend of flexibility and rigidity. Do you have a word for the year? While I didn’t have one last year, I’ve often embraced the practice of selecting a word or theme to guide me through the year ahead. On New Year’s Eve, my wife and I were out for a walk, reflecting on some of the goals we’ve set for 2025. As we talked, she noticed a common thread running through them—a focus on growth. Without even realizing it, I had stumbled upon our word for the year: growth.
