It's interesting that they only use them on the specific place names, but consistently omit the ʻokina in Hawaiʻi. There's some logic there though. Hawaii is a U.S. state and the federal government does not use diacriticals in references to the state. USGS is great about it in every other context.

If you live near an asian store like Daiso, they have little egg timers that go right in the boiling water and change color to help get the eggs just how you like them. I still struggle with peeling soft boiled eggs reliably, but this gets them cooked perfect.

I didn't need to double the garlic in this recipe, but I kinda do all the time anyway. We grow a variety called Music from Territorial Seeds that has huge bulbs up to a quarter pound, so when a recipe calls for a clove, some of ours are huge. These ended up very garlic flavored.

I was very disappointed when the new owners took Duck Pho off the menu. But I suppose they have redeemed themselves with this.

I love the photo choice there.

I have yet to hear a single positive attribute to this thing for anyone, but a lot of people are talking about it. From the outside it seems like such an incredibly dense amount of BS where I don't want to stray too close to the event horizon.

That looks so delicious!

When we bought our place, a quarter of one of the garden beds had this overgrown bush of a giant celery. The flavor is like celery, but 1000x, so it's basically inedible. I think too many permaculture lists include lovage like it's a food instead of a seasoning.

I tend to discourage people from planting lovage. The taste is too strong, even the chickens won't touch it. You can add a couple teaspoons to soup without ruining it, but it's not worth the square footage it takes up in a garden.
