The future must be cosmopolitan.
Yeah, got sure. I'm deeply concerned about how we're getting installment plans for smaller and smaller purchases. It's kind of terrifying to see services like dave.com running ads showing people taking out a loan to order dinner on DoorDash.

To be fair, you don't spend cash online. Even if you pay off your balance every month, you still wash the transaction through a credit card.

So, really, "effective" just depends on your perspective, doesn't it?
December 4, 2025 at 9:52 PM
So, I saw this headline:

Kratom: Unsafe and ineffective

And, I feel a contradiction here. To be "unsafe" it definitely has to be doing something, right?

Success.

Apparently, the argument is, "If you'd just die, we wouldn't have to kill you."

It's no coincidence they want to take us all to space where they can commodify air.

And, that, is my religion...

GenX essentially developed no cohesive generational identity. We're primarily just a collection of young boomers and elder millennials.

(Personally, I'm more of a GenZ lich.)

Oh, for sure this is ALSO true. But, in cases like this, like the game Monopoly... even if you make a thing that is brazenly critical of capitalism, it can fall into the machine and just become part of the system. (It looks like Amazon alone carries about 300 versions of Monopoly.)

Cane's is weird. When I first came to Texas I was like, "You only do one damn thing, it should be awesome and this is not", but it has grown on me over the years.
December 4, 2025 at 12:03 AM
I will never not be funny to me that Monopoly was designed as a cautionary tale and somehow Americans decided to not only play it for fun, but then also model their economy after it.

I 🖤 @ilhanmn.bsky.social so much.
December 3, 2025 at 8:26 PM
Just so we're clear, it definitely was.
December 3, 2025 at 7:52 PM
I wonder if the Democratic establishment will ever concede it was a mistake to protect this scumbag from progressive primary challengers.
December 3, 2025 at 7:44 PM
Oh, for sure. It just pains me that people who will unironically talk about "the invisible hand" completely ignore all the warnings Adam Smith had for us.
December 3, 2025 at 7:36 PM
Ok, just catching up here. But, do you need the house to live in or are we trying to unload it?
December 3, 2025 at 7:30 PM
I hate when that happens.
December 3, 2025 at 6:58 PM
@ilhanmn.bsky.social is pretty consistently one of my favorite members of Congress.
December 3, 2025 at 5:57 PM
This. All day, every day. More capitalists need to "read theory".
December 3, 2025 at 4:51 PM
We tried that. The problem is that capitalism willingly assimilates all, including all criticism of capitalism. Just look at Squid Game. Some people watched Squid Game and immediately said, "Fuck yeah, we should totally do that."
December 3, 2025 at 4:49 PM
It turns out if you make everyone's opponent "everyone else" the net result is, suboptimal.
