Content Warning: Body Horror Foreword I originally wrote this piece for my creative writing I class in 2017 at the age of 17. Even at the time I wasn't satisfied with how the story came out. But now I think this story serves as a fascinating look into seeing how my writing skills have improved over time. This piece in particualr had my ideas exceeding my technical ability to execute them.

Paradox. Life is full of seeming paradoxes, contradictory things that somehow both manage to be true, and in my own life age 25 was more paradoxical than any other year of my life. How strange is that today on my 26th birthday I have 25 hours of birthday thanks to Fall Back falling on my birthday this year. I get an extra hour of birthday!

Foreword I wrote this story for my creative writing II class in high school. The only requirement was the story was to be at least 1,500 words. The year was 2016, and I was 16, which makes me feel very old. I don't like that. I consider this to be one of my classic stories, a personal favorite of mine, but realize I never actually published it on my blog, so here it is!

“Ladies and gentlemen, come one, come all and gaze upon a monstrosity birthed from the greatest malevolence that is the human heart and mind! This foul freak is not of nature, and there is no other of its kind, truly a lone savage neither man nor animal! Its name‽ The Heart Toucher! This creature liminal and ferocious, desires only one small thing, to touch your heart, grasp it in its hand, and to crush it!
