yep and his second half numbers last year were great. he was the best closer in baseball in '23 and '24.
mets still need another big gun in the back end to have a stronger bullpen than last season...with the return of minter, that's possible with a megill or miller addition.

he’s arguably a more consistent option to close than diaz and if not for last year’s first half, nor the pitch tipping to the mets in the wildcard in ‘24, everyone would look at it as an upgrade

the nuance in this situation is all regarding public perception. he doesnt want us to blame him for wanting to leave for the dodgers. he opted out of a contract and then took less money to win. there’s no nice way to tell your loving fans of 7 years that you want to leave so here we are
