Today, Facebook permanently banned the account of fellow author and Star Trek tie-in scribe Ilsa J. Bick because its automated censor detected no-no words in her otherwise normal post about the murder of Renee Good. Be aware that the fascist machines are working overtime to suppress free speech.

Hard to believe The Professor is 6 years gone. His integrity, virtuosity, and curiosity all continue to inspire me as a writer and as a person. I’ll be raising a glass of the good stuff tonight in honor of the late, great Neil Peart of RUSH.

The Archer class scout ship in general and the Sagittarius, specifically, are among my favorite things I’ve ever helped “invent” for STAR TREK. Writing the adventures of the Sagittarius crew in the Star Trek: Vanguard saga is some of the most fun I've ever had as an author.

Happy National Science Fiction Day, fellow fans! Celebrate by buying and/or reading some of my Star Trek novels, short fiction, or comic books; watching one of my DS9 episodes; or listening to the audio drama podcast series STAR TREK: KHAN!

Made an amazing Xmas eve dinner for myself & Kara: reverse-seared New York strip steak (medium rare), baby potatoes w/ butter, and seared asparagus with Hollandaise sauce. For dessert, my sticky toffee pudding with warm toffee sauce, pistachios, French whipped cream, and fresh mint. Now: food coma.

Back in July I had the pleasure of announcing my Star Trek: TNG short story “Family History” in Star Trek Explorer #14 had won the IAMTW's 2025 Scribe Award for Best Short Story. Today I had the pleasure of receiving the physical award itself and adding it to my “brag shelf.” Color me pleased!

From the folks at Fan Film Factor, a very favorable and well-crafted review of the STAR TREK: KHAN audio drama series!

From the review: “Incredibly well written…” ('Nuff said!)

I’ll second that — if you’re eligible, by all means get yourself one. It's not cheap, but it's worth it as a conversation-starter. 😉

I love the first season of SHORESY — it’s a perfect underdog sports tale, and the visual in the season finale of the team saluting their loyal fans with sticks held high chokes me up every damned time. Seasons 2 and 3 are okay, but I still think S1 is SHORESY's best so far.

A cold day here in NYC, but in addition to running several Xmas-related errands, I also made time to visit and donate four new books to Buddy’s @littlefreelibrary.bsky.social LFL #189125, on 26th St. in Queens. I hope folks enjoy Firewall, Ring of Fire, More Beautiful Than Death, & Desperate Hours!

My wife and I also went to one of the CLUE 40th anniversary screenings, here in NYC. Lesley Ann Warren was great during pre-show Q&A.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

One of life’s great mysteries: my blank-eyed orange cat looks like a teddy bear, but he hates being held like one.

ME (while snorfling struggling cat): “Y u teddy-bear shaped if u no teddy bear?” *struggling intensifies*

Baffling.

My new favorite detective procedural is actually about a female lawyer in 19th-century Italy: La Legge di Lidia Poët (The Law According to Lidia Poët). If she isn’t already, I think series lead Matilda De Angelis is going to become a major international star.

More books donated to the @littlefreelibrary.bsky.social system tonight in Queens, NY. At LFL #161951 “Rocky’s Corner,” new copies of SNW: Ring of Fire, PIC: Firewall, and the anthology COMBAT MONSTERS; at LFL #126143 “Little Apple Tree” Ring of Fire, Firewall, and FUZZY NATION by John Scalzi.

I can always ask my pal Mike Friedman if he’d be willing to give Trump his mock trophy from his roast 15 years ago — The Hugo Fuck Yourself Award. It has four sparkly golden dildos, perfect for Herr Drumpenführer.

I donated 3 books each to a pair of @littlefreelibrary.bsky.social boxes on 38th and 36th streets here in Queens before my bad hip gave out. I plan on donating more at other boxes this weekend, but this is a start. #LFL
