I love zombies, I love drag, I love gay shit, I love Romero movies and I love pretty much everyone in this whole cast. So why was #QueensOfTheDead so dull? It didn’t have to be scary, but unfortunately, it’s not funny either, relying on basic gay cliches that are camp but shallow

We’re not talking enough about #Lurker. I’m as obsessed with Alex Russell’s debut as Matthew is with Oliver. Archie Madekwe is incredible in what could have been a surface level popstar role while Théodore Pellerin cements himself as someone to watch after his drag lead in Solo

Not that we needed more proof, but JLo is a STAR in #KissOfTheSpiderWoman. As is Tonatiuh in the kind of breakout role that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Cast him in everything pls (also loved seeing a Technicolor musical actually embrace queerness for once)

Just this poster alone is better than entire five star shows #Pluribus

I think the reason I’m so disappointed by #JayKelly is because early scenes with Billy Crudup blew me away - an instant Oscar fave for best supporting - and then the film became increasingly sentimental and lost its bite by the end. Still worth seeing tho just for Billy tbh

From Before Sunrise and Boyhood to #BlueMoon and beyond, Richard Linklater and Ethan Hawke have established themselves as one of cinema’s greatest (and often overlooked) partnerships. Loved writing this piece on them for Curzon Cinemas (for UK/VPN readers only sadly)

#LastSamuraiStanding is Squid Game meets Shōgun with some Battle Royale thrown in, but it’s so much more than too. My latest for GamesRadar

New Netflix show Last Samurai Standing will draw comparisons to Squid Game and Shōgun, but it’s so much more than that
Opinion | Our writer argues that Netflix's new historical survival drama is more than just Squid Game meets Shōgun

“She’s a dominatrix, I love that for her,” says Kim Kardashian at one point, yet no “love” or expression of any kind is apparent.

Ben Whishaw is mesmerising in Peter Hujar’s Day. Maybe his best role to date? I was totally caught up in the stories he recounts that alternate between banal and fascinating, but never boring. Rebecca Hall brings authentic warmth to their connection in this nostalgic two-hander.

Maxton Hall levels up from a one star show to a two star show in its second season. Still the worst YA series I’ve seen in a while, but at least it’s bordering on watchable this time around

#InYourDreams is a sweet, enjoyable way to while away 90 minutes. Coming after the wildly entertaining KPOP Demon Hunters doesn’t do it any favours though. You’d think a film about dreaming would aspire to be more imaginative. Baloney Tony will be a hit with kids regardless

#AllHerFault reminded me that we really need to see Sophia Lillis in more things. A scene-stealer in IT, the lead of an unfairly cancelled Netflix show, lots of fun in the overlooked Dungeons and Dragons film… Mike White needs to cast her in The White Lotus ASAP
November 9, 2025 at 4:49 AM
In just 4 episodes, #DeathByLightning gives a forgotten historical footnote the prestigious retelling it deserves… A searing and electric acting showcase that’s just as timely as it is timeless. Nick Offerman steals every scene. My review for Empire

Still writing up my review because I was commissioned late in the day, but going on record now to say that the first episode of #Pluribus is one of the best premieres I’ve ever seen. Not just this year, but from my entire life.

Been drowning in screeners recently. One show was a 2 star slog. But I’ve also watched some great stuff including #DeathByLightning, a preposterously funny yet tragic historical drama about a forgotten American president and the man who killed him. Review coming soon for Empire
