They provide a mosaic of habitats with water, wood, light & shade all in close proximity.

Of course, if Beavers were allowed to roam free, they’d do this kind of work for us! 🦫

People Beaver Power!

🦦 Sadly, “Wet Woodlands” are pretty rare in the UK, mainly because the fertile ground has been turned into agricultural land. They’re great habitat for a variety of invertebrates, birds like the willow tit & song thrush, and bats.

As it was summer when we did it, the stream was completely dry at the time.

💧These photos show the dams in action this week, holding back the water, keeping the water onsite for longer, helping create a mini-wetland.
