The job is harder when on the one hand the military industrial complex is paying for your vacation homes but on the other hand your voters don't want to die or commit murder to make the rich richer.

There's a more recent (2005) book you might be interested in: THE RUSSO-JAPANESE WAR IN GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE: World War Zero

Its two volumes go about 1200 pages total, but volume 1 might be enough for what you need: covers the origins of the war, the war itself, and the war's legacy.

Unsure how accurate, but Google AI says there have been 25 homicides since August 11, when the National Guard was deployed to DC.

Extraordinarily obvious that if Weiss had her current position while Epstein was alive, they would have been good friends and she'd be all over his emails.

If Tom Wambsgans was more evil, pathetic, and opportunistic than he was, he might have become JD Vance.

Not sure if you know this, but this course is available free on Prime Video right now.

I watched it on The Great Courses: it was great!

What's the evidence that the military or anyone else in the executive branch refused or would have refused Trump's lawful directives in that time frame, and were instead following the directives of a Pelosi-Pence-Milley triumvirate?

Wars are rarely all or nothing. Maybe Nazis get beaten back to Germany, but then remain in power there.

And obviously the Pacific theater would have gone very differently.

US was important in WW1, but not as important as in WW2.

Without the US, would the other Allies have won in Europe? Maybe eventually, but it would have been such a different war that it's not an easy call either way.

Legitimately confused how Trump was couped.

Because Pelosi asked Milley to arrest Trump, which Milley declined?

Because Milley told China that the US was not going to nuke them?

Something else I'm missing?

Bicameralism is not necessarily counter-majoritarian. Nor are staggered elections.

Speaking of celebrities, the photos used for Evan Goldberg differ a bit depending on whether you view his page in English or Asturian. Also, funny there's a page of him in Asturian and not Seth Rogan.

Personally these were two of my favorite bits.

Legit cracked up when Chotiner asked Jean-Pierre whether she sees herself as part of "a silent minority of people who feel that Biden was taken advantage of."

In some states that would arguably constitute disorderly conduct.

Moreover, again depending on the state, bystanders might be able to sue you for something like intentional infliction of emotional distress.
October 28, 2025 at 3:38 AM
What about other states? No idea, but yeah, probably a lot of states never bothered to outlaw such a thing.

But what if a friend was in an accident and gave you their amputated leg? Could you take it to the park and put it on the grill in full view of the public?
October 28, 2025 at 3:38 AM
But what if someone chopped off a piece of themselves (and survived)? Could they or others legally consume that flesh?

Definitely not in Idaho--unless eating the flesh was the only apparent means of survival. See Idaho Code Ann. § 18-5003.

taste. But there could be other laws that come into play.

Also worth noting that the laws listed are about corpses. An obvious loophole around all these laws would be to eat someone's flesh while they are still alive. Doing that without their consent is usually what we would refer to as a no-no.

But in Oklahoma, 21 OK Stat § 1161.1 only makes it illegal to "willfully desecrate a human corpse" if the desecration is for a certain purpose, such as impeding the detection of a crime. Thus, it's not a violation of that specific law to eat a corpse if done solely for the purpose of enjoying the

For example, in CA, "willfully mutilating" a corpse is a felony unless it's done for a certain legal reason, like cremation. Thus, in CA, cannibalism is probably always a felony.

Totally normal and not at all suspicious assignment.

Anyway, they list all the relevant statutes, except for two they couldn't find anything on (MD and VT).

Taking a quick look, it seems very likely that cannibalism is illegal under some of these statutes but not necessarily under others.

Bored lawyer here. Friendly reminder that things you read on the internet are sometimes incorrect.

For some reason, in 2020 a Colorado legislative staff member was tasked with finding out the laws on desecrating a human corpse in all 50 states.
