One of the NYT pieces noted that the reporter had phoned Trump and Trump answered around 4 a.m., so he didn't get much sleep. Even allowing for that, this is a 79-year-old in no shape to be running military ops in the middle of the night.

Used copies are pretty easy to find online, though if you're not in the U.S. maybe pricey. It's a mixed bag, 100% justifiable outrage at American settler history, but Deloria also rejects peopling of the New World from Asia on basically ideological grounds if I remember correctly.

My favorite case was the swearing in of Pima County Recorder (Arizona) Gabriella Cazares-Kelly, who is Tohono O'odham. She took the oath on a copy of Vine Deloria's book "Custer Died for Your Sins".

I'm a textual literalist. I understand Roberts to mean that, since there have been no significant earthquakes affecting DC this year, the copy of the Constitution held at the National Archives is physically firm and unshaken.

Trump vetoes bill that would protect Miccosukee village in Everglades
In President Donald Trump's first two vetoes of his second term, he's denied one of Florida's two federally recognized tribes the ability to protect one of its camps in the Everglades.

Fun fact: sunrise on Jan. 16 will still be at the same time as today, 7:27 a.m. Latest sunrise here will be at 7:29, lasting January 1 through 9.

a gold ring and shoemaker's tools, total value just under the amount that would have meant hanging, or is the proclivity to take things that don't belong to you considered dispositive evidence of Heritage American status?

What are the blood quantum rules for Heritage Americans? Does my 1/4 late-arriving Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry cancel out my 7x-great-grandfather who settled in VA in the 1620s? Do I get points off for a different ancestor who was transported from England to Maryland for stealing ...

It always feels to me like the solstice is broken when I see that sunrise still keeps getting later every day until sometime in January.

I think this cause was probably lost from the moment sports types started talking about "giving 110% effort", which was their version of buying an amp you can turn to 11. Trump just figures that an amp you can turn to 110 is even more impressive.

Based on stats I can find online, the number of reports translates into about one per every 7500 rides, and that spans the range of minor to serious behavior. So it's not Russian roulette, but the target should be 0% problem rides.

The chance that any single ride will go bad is pretty small, but based on the NYT reporting Uber definitely needs to do more to make it even smaller.

Over the weekend my wife & I decided on a short road trip to combat cabin fever and drove to have lunch in downtown Louisa, where I'd never been. We took the route back that passes Bright Hope. It's a lovely little church.

Though this particular gender anxiety was almost old hat by the time "All in the Family" first aired, when hippies had been around for years. Classic formulation the 1965 song by The Barbarians: www.musixmatch.com/lyrics/The-B...
