I’m interested in metacognition and self reflection. I’ve had multiple careers including STEM education and, oddly enough, theology. I deeply appreciate the balancing act that is the natural world.
“I’d agree with you but then we’d both be wrong.”
“I can see that you’re thinking outside the box… if the box were reality.”
“You’re really giving ‘trial and error’ a workout.”

Is there any downside to this?

I’m an armchair scientist, so please don’t laugh, but is this graph saying that CO2 mitigation through land us practices (forestry) is losing ground, or is it saying that the amount of mitigating forests is shrinking?

Context of discovery and context of justification. These are new ideas to me. Thanks.

I thought it had to be made by 3 soldiers with a recipe that includes stones.

Congratulations! What are you studying?

This may be one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

Buying gas for a car was easier and cheaper than boarding and feeding a horse, but at first there was worldwide resistance to automobiles. Certainly telephones. At Henry Flagler’s hotels he had to hire workers to turn on the electric lights because the guests were afraid of being electrocuted.

Oh. I have an Olympic medal in jumping… to conclusions.

Evidently you’ve never been a land owner. Property taxes and upkeep alone cost thousands a year. You walk out of your rental to travel the world and you’re free. If she walks off it will still cost her $100s a month just to maintain the place while she’s gone. Poverty has its perks.

Question: could Ireland reforest without human intervention?
December 9, 2024 at 4:37 PM
It does amaze me to see trees being planted that are either not native to the area or only one species is planted and called “reforestation.”

I hate to ask, but I’ve got to know; homemade crust?

Is this measured via satellite data?

I understand so very little of this, but it’s so exciting to see this kind of research being done and to imagine all of the practical implications and benefits that can come from it. Thank you!

I was wondering what mentality would say to themselves, “I will make this national treasure look better with a touch of AI.”

This is really amazing. Thanks for sharing it.

Exactly. It’s very difficult for there to be a “one sided coin.” Policy alone cannot solve the problem nor can personal choice. I has to be a combination of both.

Keep posting these kinds of things. We need them.

Climate scientists are amazing. There are so many moving parts. Keep up the great work.

This moon looks a little worse for wear. Does Pluto not know how to take care of its things?
