Sad to report the untimely death of Martin Townsend, a friend, former colleague and my predecessor as Editor of the Sunday Express. A talented journalist and a wonderful human being, he’ll be missed by many.

Sad to learn of the death of the legendary concert pianist Alfred Brendel. His recordings of Mozart and Schubert fuelled my early teenage love of music and I was later lucky enough to see him perform A giant who left us a great legacy.

Standing room only as journalists and politicians said a sad farewell to former journalist, columnist and MEP Patrick O’Flynn today. A talent taken from us far too soon.
