I know it's supposed to be a shadowy figure, but it irks me when evil is portrayed as a dark person. Even something that innocuous contributes to racism.

Correct. But we can only begin by removing Republicans. And the only way to do that is to overwhelmingly vote Democrat, no matter how flawed, so we can work toward progress.
