okay also I do find it sad. children and pets are the ones who suffer the most living with these appliances. also at some point it really shouldn't be legal to sell them new to people. the government should be paying to convert people to electric.

Like I'm pretty sure a bowl should basically never be used for food storage.

To be clear, this is a solicitation for any exceptions that other people can think of. There must be things I'm missing.

So yes some # of glass containers are likely necessary, but I do not consider them to be food storage.

To that end, I LOVEEEE the glass Smart Seal line from OXO. The silicone seal pops in out soooooo easily to ensure easy and effective dishwasher use.

I consider containers for reheating to be a separate category. I think it's useful to think of food storage as separate from things meant to be eaten in. You do not have to store everything in microwave safe containers, you can portion out onto dinnerware or into glass containers as needed.

Cake server? No, upside down food pan of appropriate size.

And by 99% I mean overall. I assume any exception will mean that there are certain households who do that thing a LOT.

so I ended up with 95% of my containers being a minimal variety of polypropylene Cambros and a handful of glass OXO dishes for when I need to reheat something away from home.

I redid my whole tupperware situation last year and have a LOT of thoughts on this that I'm trying to write up and will hopefully post soon. Basically I realized I don't need to store everything in microwave safe containers, and I have no issue with polypropylene/polyethylene at room temp and below,
