If BBC Verify can distinguish fact from fabrication, why can't this be reflected in the reporting/bulletins? Why not lead with the fact-checking?

I was making no comment whatsoever on the causes/background of violence in NI. I was solely questioning the validity of the comparison with current ICE situation in the US.

I wasn't making any comment on the motivations of the Provisional IRA, only questioning the equivalence with the current US/ICE situation

It's the equivalence I object to. ICE are not fighting a guerrilla army. Not yet anyway

I wouldn't seek to downplay the wrongs of British forces in NI, but they were in a fight with a guerrilla army – somewhat hampering the equivalence
