I've seen so many behind-the-scenes videos about this stuff, and to this day it blows my mind that they pulled off a shot like this from Return of the Jedi with physical models and paintings and film compositing and optical tricks, over 40 years ago. Absolute movie magic.

Truly sad to hear about Val Kilmer. RIP to our wingman and our huckleberry... a uniquely gifted actor and artist who deserved a longer career and a much longer life.

I went to the African American History museum in DC a few years ago. One of the most powerful exhibits was this crib with the shackles suspended above. It’s heartbreaking and it *should* be. The thought of these white supremacist snowflakes ruining these museums fills me with rage I can’t describe.

Just saw Voces8 perform in Pittsburgh and they were truly amazing. One of the finest concerts I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

Reminds me of a great t-shirt I ordered a few years ago showing a stack of VHS tapes you could customize with handwritten labels (drawn on with permanent markers for fabric). I made this one as a gift for my niece with some of her favorite shows/movies.

Wicked was stunning. The whole cast is brilliant, but Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are simply perfect. The final “Defying Gravity” sequence was one of the most thrilling and moving things I’ve seen in a long time. Go see this movie.
