You need 1 of 3 things:

A) An American who's the best player in the world. A Messi or Ronaldo from the US.
B) An American league that's the highest competition.
C) The US to be an annual favorite at the World Cup.

Short of that, it won't happen. We won't embrace a sport played well by others.

Tom Brady has a catering gig after the game
Three NFL announcers. All looking straight ahead. Kevin Burkhardt has a big headset on, they all do. They also all have white shirts. Burkhardt has a purple tie and a nice tie bar on. Dean Blandino (he's the ref guy) has a checkered blue tie. Tom Brady is wearing a white tie that matches his shirt.

By contrast, #Patriots LB Robert Spillane missed 5 tackles in Miami and fellow LB Christian Elliss whiffed 3 times, per PFF.

Through 2 weeks, Spillane and Elliss have combined for 14 missed tackles. Inside linebacker play has been a big problem early on.

Makes sense. Easiest way to blow a big lead is to shoot yourself out of it. More low-percentage shots being taken = more opportunity to shoot yourself out = more blown leads.
