The people creating the policies are high as a kite. They don't care that big policy requires people to implement. They're busy chasing away the very people who would do the implementation. Hiring is slow, but drug induced mania is fast.

Ramping up production takes much longer than just raising prices. Import substitution is useful for developing countries seeking to protect infant industry, but when industry is well established it is more likely to result in rent seeking. The book How Asia Works is a good read on this topic.

Defining yourself by what you're against is far less healthy than defining yourself by what you're for. It's easy to get lost in the sauce of opposing the other team come what may. Toxic critique overlaps with bullying.

It's a failure of education that most Americans don't learn about the pre 1960s civil rights movement. It's understandable that people are ignorant about how long the movement existed. This ignorance of history is a major weakness of amateur political commentators.
