Oddly enough, Tesla, whose stock was languishing at just over 200 in May, is now just under 500.

Considering the success of cybertruck and declining sales, it's very difficult to understand why.

I suspect some creative accounting.

..the unrelenting propaganda subsides and some measure of pro Palestine, anti Russian, pro science and anti Trump rhetoric manages to shine through.

Indeed, this last week has seen an increase of such posts.

The barbaric hordes are now back though, so I've been considering leaving. Maybe. Shortly.

... in the same way that Murdoch uses Fox.

It was always clear that he would use the software to promote those that supported his opinions and suppress those that didn't.

Because of this, Twitter can bo longer be considered an accurate gauge of public opinion, but there are times of the day when..

I joined Twitter in 2007, but never used it prior to J6.

On J6, the crimes were live streamed with commentary provided by the insurrectionists themselves in a way that traditional media could not.

When Musk bought it I saw immediately that he saw it as a tool to control the political narrative...

Just because I oppose Israel's brutal genocide doesn't mean I support Iran's tyrannical misogynistic theocracy.

I'd pray for the safety of the demonstrators but I regard all three Abrahamic religions as false and a malignant blight on humanity.

I think the key to understanding MAGA evangelicals is that they view God as the CEO of the company and see Jesus as the Boss' son. Someone who they have to respect, given his relationship with the old man, but not the guy with the power.

They'd rather deal with management than the boss' woke son.

"too dumb to notice"

Well, to be fair...

"Five to one, Baby,
One in five.
No one here gets,
Out alive.
You give yours, Baby,
I'll give mine.

The old get old and the,
Young get stronger.
May take a week and it,
May take longer.
They got the guns,
But we got the numbers.
Gonna win, yeah, we're taking over
Come on"

Education is the natural enemy of evangelism because educated people are harder to control.

Religious and home schooling are preferred teaching models because learning to think is counter productive to religious faith.

"Africa won't build solar"

It's complete nonsense, anyway.

Additionally, the patent for flexible solar panels is held by a South African.

Why do American assume that Africa exists in prehistory and is incapable of innovation?

I have close family members who are [were] intelligent, empathetic people. My sister is a respected architect.

But they have had a subscription with the online Telegraph for some years now and the steady diet of rightwing guff has turned them into Farage supporting europhobes.

Just be thankful you're not South African.

We've given Musk, Thiel and Sacks to America and we don't want them back.

And the reason why corporations will fight it, tooth and nail.

I'm a little bemused this morning.

I've been on Twitter and it's almost civil, with plenty of posts offering reasonable points of view rather than rightwing hatred.

It's almost as if the Russian bots are all on holiday.
December 29, 2025 at 7:06 AM
One thing is certain about Bluesky, though.

Discussions are held on a reasonably coherent level.

Twitter is an incoherent mesh of pro Trump Islamophobic, pro Russian, anti European biblical fundamentalists who believe in a geocentric, 6000 yo flat earth around which the Universe revolves.
December 28, 2025 at 8:35 AM
Thanks.

On your recommendation, I am following Robert Reich on Twitter because I need to hear voices which don't strictly echo Musk's incoherent ravings against Europe, against Democrats and against Liberalism.

It's funny how rightwing posts subside there after Russia goes to bed.

Canada is probably already in Trump's sights and, if Greenland becomes part of the US, then Canada will be vulnerable.

Iceland, IMO while not off the radar, is some way down the line.
December 28, 2025 at 5:23 AM
I hope you are right.

However, there is definitely a trend under which rightwing European groups are gaining support from the rhetoric coming from America (and, presumably, Russian bots masquerading as American).

I don't live in Europe (or America), so Twitter is my only gauge and it's horrifying.
December 28, 2025 at 5:20 AM
I don't think anyone should trust Trump (or Vance, for that matter) to keep his word.

Even if Greenland were ceded to the US, it's obvious Trump sees Europe as a competitor which should be destroyed if America is to prosper. Which aligns perfectly with Putin.

Moreover Canada would be vulnerable.

AI?

It simply looks like a photoshopped collage to me.

Outlawing photoshopped images on the basis that they might be considered AI seems a bit extreme. Particularly when the editing is obvious, as this is.

Where does this stand, legally?

Clearly CBS holds copyright, but are there possibly public interest considerations?
December 23, 2025 at 5:13 AM
Clearly the disbandment of the EU would be beneficial to Putin which seems to coincide with Musk's objectives, too.
