Yes, the connection is rationally tenuous, but no one will misunderstand. There is not one reader who will miss Watson = DNA = evolution.

My experience is that science deniers deny science. And the first thing they deny is evolution. Then they get into flat earth, and climate science, and vaccines. It's kinda a continuum. And none of them understand genetics or DNA.

And Watson got a Nobel for helical DNA.
