Big fan of St Louis Cardinals, Washington Capitals, Baltimore Orioles, and 19th-century Russian literature (also Jane Austen, birds, animals, museums, languages, and gardens)
Great! That is very much needed, so thanks a lot. I especially
love your "Severi Järvi"!

Wow, I'm impressed!

Tervetuloa takaisin,Linnea! I hope your summer is going well. I flew to North Carolina to visit Elena, and she flew up to DC to visit me and go to baseball games and museums. We also went to an event at the nearby Finnish Embassy.

There's lots more to Colonial Williamsburg than the actor/interpreters (you can just skip their presentations). I love the heritage animals (I have a thing for oxen) and like to watch the tradespeople doing all kinds of crafts. There are two good art museums there, too.

I'm a history nerd and I love Colonial Williamsburg. The trainride takes 4 hours from DC. But if you aren't big on early American life, I wouldn't recommend it. Families go to Williamsburg for Busch Gardens amusement park (5 miles from the colonial area). It has 10 rollercoasters--no thanks!

But you gained some "natitude"--right??

Oh, well, I see that the game was cancelled--I'm sorry. At least you tried.

At least you made it to the ballpark! The sky still looks ominous here in my part of DC, but I'm hoping the sun comes out for you soon.

You're a braver fan than I am! I've spent too many hours in the past walking back and forth in the Nats Park concourse during rain delays. But I wish you good luck today, and good luck to the Orioles, too! Maybe it won't rain at all--AccuWeather isn't always accurate.

What cuties!

Many thanks for translating that Ilta-Sanomat article for us--we appreciate it!

Great!

Yeah, that IS surprising that they're charging so much! I hadn't even noticed that there was going to BE an exhibition game between the O's and the Nats. Like you, I'll wait until closer to the game to decide whether to go, since March weather is so unpredictable.

My season tickets are in Section 313, fairly high up but behind home plate so I get a good view of all parts of the field. You also have a good view of the JumboTron from there, plus you can see both bullpens.

Thank you VERY much for all your wonderful work! We really appreciate it--you are one of a kind!

I've read S&S many times, & it never seemed odd that Elinor & Marianne hadn't met their half-brother's wife's brothers before. Regency weddings were simple, & few family members came. Plus, in this case the bride's family were snobbish & had little contact with the groom's poorer half-sisters.
