My daughter wrote some words at school
so sweet they made me cry.
I’m very glad the words she wrote
were hers and not A.I.

It takes some #verve to buck the urge
to use A.I. to cheat,
but words combined by A.I.’s mind
will never sound as sweet.

In helping educate myself, I find it's best to strive
to seek out knowledge shared by folks who are, or were, alive.
A.I. just spits out algorithms billionaires prefer-
instead, #associate with thoughts from folks who are, or were.

like it’s one of my jobs
and it’s taught me there’s joy in belief.

When I read Charlie Brown,
if I’m up or I’m down,
it reminds me that life has good grief.

A diet purely online-based
inclines a mind to go to waste.

A healthy mental menu means
you pick up books and put down screens.

makes food for thought to help you think.

I think that the internet ought to run slow
like back in the dial-up days, decades ago,
with one screen per minute the most we could scroll
to stop tech's assault on our eyes and our soul
and let our minds breathe and reflect and debate
so we'll #flinch from this path of division and hate.

I hoped I’d be a writer and I tried it for a while.

I had no sense of sentence structure, grammar, tone or #style.

I can’t compose in prose and make it poignant, and I know it.

But if I write in rhyme, perhaps I’ll make it as a poet.
