Interesting challenge! To us gaijin “uchi” and “soto” take a while to figure out but for natives it can be harder due to implicit bias: it is so deeply ingrained it is unconscious. I wonder if a fun, mobile class activity might help? …

I worry that the ‘sufficiently competent’ criterion will not bother the DOJ.

Agreed. Taking MAGA as a comparison, Reform are using lies about lazy stereo types to rile discontent against a non-existent enemy. Hypocrisy is essential for thorough gaslighting. That is why fascists fear an informed proletariat.

How bizarre.

At such times I turn to 17th Century Japanese poetry (less dangerous than meth). ‘Barn’s burned down. Now I can see the moon.’ (Masahide).

That is good news. It seems as if the country doing the least is the USA.

Other than California, I don’t see one, unless we look at the rest of the world (minus North Korea, Russia, Hungary, and the oil states), who are doing a good job of shining a light on Trump, his enablers, and the creation of a white Christian dystopia.

Does anyone know the allegiance of the sellers? I’d not be surprised if they are all in a nepotistic relationship with MAGA types.

Good to see you recognised 👍.

The self-centredness of Trump, his enablers, and his followers astounds me. They are disinterested, if not bored by citizens’ needs and opt, instead, to gain wealth and power from the poor and powerless who, nevertheless, continue to support the cult. Will the majority wake up in time?

Brilliant writing! I concur with the Spotify horror: I’m no musical tart.

A fine player, and a very funny, and skilful exhibition player. Always the group comedian.

Even though I have a USA passport I doubt I’d be allowed in due to my BlueSky posts and, presumably, my deceased Facebook and Instagram pages. I’d certainly not try to go if I were brown skinned.

Don’t get me started on the FIFA Peace Prize. Germany has already floated the boycott idea, I think. Can morals trump money I wonder?
February 4, 2026 at 11:21 AM
Agreed, but I think humans are inherently prone to corruption: we help our friends and hinder our enemies. This happens from a single family scale up to international politics scale. We are still evolving.

I’ve not heard of either band so I’ll seek them out after work.

I wish you success. I also hope the Gestapo don’t interfere with what should be a grand celebration of decent values.

I am so sad watching the US become such a frightening place. I have many former colleagues from my time teaching outdoor classroom that I fear for their safety, and for the majority of decent people being abused by the powerful enabled by the ignorant.
February 3, 2026 at 5:36 AM
I wholeheartedly agree. I doubt, however, that our species is mature enough to legislate, and design a bureaucratic process to enable it. We have prehistoric wetware running medieval values enabled by 21st Century technology.

He is a fine role model for how a strong person behaves. Politics Girl, I admire your stance and forthright expression too.

A fair review. Mirage is my favourite Camel album because it does have a bit of edge.
