Some of the big churches in the DC area, like Washington National Cathedral, require reservations to attend some of the Christmas Eve/Day services. The passes are free but you have to register in advance to avoid overcrowding.

I watched this last night. The dolls that pop out of the box in the first act looked like the Tin Man (and Tin Woman, I guess) from the Wizard of Oz.

I'm taking a beginning knitting class starting in January, so I will need to go to my local yarn store soon and find the worsted weight yarn. I'm hoping it will be obvious so I don't have to ask for help.

Apparently they imported a Canadian ice master which is the most Canadian job imaginable. "He and other athletes have given feedback to Canadian ice master Mark Messer, who is in charge of making the ice at the speedskating arena."

I belong to a hiking group and I believe this would count as an A+++ hike for which you need group leader pre-approval and proof of similar hikes accomplished just for signup. That is some serious elevation gain.
