Got a few back then: Best #23 was my intro to many DC characters + several SA Legion digests, to the point where it feels "off" to see a Forte Legion story full-sized. Recently put together runs of Best and Special; lord knows what'll happen when these old eyes try to actually read the things. ☺️

That was over 30 years ago! They sure can hold a grudge..

48; all but the last two to join the US. (Admittedly, four of those were "drive throughs," but I did make it a point to touch foot to ground.)

On his board a number of years ago, Byrne said he didn't know who was going to draw the story at first. Had he known it was going to be Aparo, he wouldn't have included the two words.

First saw this cover in the back of the Spider-Man/Daredevil reprint (single issue with the two Miller Spectaculars). I was so intrigued that the next time I went to comic shop I picked up the issue. It was fine. :-)

The Superman one is an interesting one to include, in that it picks up from the Golden Age Omnibus v.7. Does that mean DC isn't planning on doing a v.8? (Works for me - those suckers aren't the most readable things in the world.)

Agreed

Oh sure. I just felt that motivation didn't fall under the two options provided (and possibly interesting trivia for those who didn't know).

I'd heard that Jo was credited as "Mary Jo" to make it clear that it was actually a female doing the writing.

And it took a majority in the House and a just-shy-of- supermajority in the Senate to do it. They haven't had the latter since then and it's clearly been a limiting factor.

At long last, we get Prof Stein's side of the story.

"isn't likely?" Dang.

Immortal Thor

I just hope there's a plan to set a good tempo with these "include a few issues of several series" volumes. (See also Science Fiction and Horror.) If you only do one volume every few years you're not going to get very far.

Hey, I've pre-ordered it... (What was weird for me is an early solicit I saw that made it sound like "Gorilla World" was an ongoing serial rather than a single ~8 pager.)

I'm wondering if they were just getting ahead of themselves? If this series is "Strange Adventures + Mystery in Space + random other stuff", then a future volume could easily include Adam Strange.

Based on the contents, there'll be more Dan (10 lead stories) than Ted (6 lead stories + 4 back-ups).

Sure, but I see stuff like that as part of the fun of owning the original (when you can).

I say fix them. Why should comics immortalize what are basically "typos?" Everyone else gets to fix theirs in later printings.
March 11, 2025 at 12:24 AM
That line was sort of in Machine Man #1, but there it was "misfits, incompetents and assassins."

Season 2 was much better, if it helps.

I'd say three out of four of those.
