A perpetual sad boi dev thing.

I'm a c/cpp+py dev. I make horrible things and try not to brick reality in the process by accidently releasing an eldritch horror.
Nothing really visual to show off lately, as it's been almost exclusively backend/non-visual work lately, on top of planning and figuring out how I intend to handle items and player inventories.

That, combined with stronger user-session handling.

Progress is progress though.

This is an earlier conversation of how the 'collectables' are setup to work. I figured it would be easier for me to just share this than spend multiple posts explaining it.

This is pretty much how Trash, Flowers and Insects will all work, maybe some changes here and there.

Well, simply put the insects now exist, I have a foundation for collectables in the future and so forth. Unlike with Gaia Online's original Towns 1, these bugs despawn after a while :) Specifically a minimum of 5 minutes up to 10 minutes for their lifetime, each bug having their own timer.

Have you ever wondered what 10,000 dragonflies looks like? Well now you know.

All the bugs ( excluding the Rhino Beetle) have been added and each type has their own animation and movement variety.
That's.. about all I've done today and it took forever.

I think my game has some major bugs in it! 😱

Not really done much visual today as I'm reworking my world map setup to allow for more control and larger world setups.

So, have what a map looks like instead!
The sides are obviously for map transition purposes, but the ones on the trees and bushes are for interacting!

Two posts in one day? What am I, a miracle worker?

No actually this is to show where this project actually started as. This is it. It started as a test to see if I could handle Gaia Online's avatar handling and movement outside of Gaia for a personal project that very quickly turned into this.

As my previous posts have only shown other parts of the game, this one is to show another map!
This entire setup is based on Barton 1000 in the original Towns in terms of it's layout.
Every single thing is manually placed into existence and the walls were the worst of it :)

This could probably be designed better and likely it will at some point but, I guess this is fine? I only realized I've not actually shown the full thing until now.

I am notoriously "not great" at pixel art as can be seen by the third icon.

Center gears being a Gaia Online original asset and the first one on the far left using a preexisting toy-hammer that I spent way too long in Aseprite and Photoshop working on.

Am I adding the phone back in because It is an existing foundation to work on and is familiar to users OR because I'm very lazy and don't wanna design something? The world may never know.

So I figured I should probably start posting somewhere about these, as I'm pretty lazy when it comes to making an update log/change list.

Here's the latest change: Staff-orientated name colors. This will be for a hardcoded staff name list + Owner and Tester colors for myself.
