I am a Game Dev and Modder.
Running Bazzite (Linux).
Coding projects in Love2D and PyGame.
Anything that gets the job done is fine. Gamemaker too.
A lot of people really enjoy Godot. Theres also Defold if you prefer lua language.
I like Phaser but that ones a bit complicated for non web devs.
Try the engines out see which you like.

I've worked on 25+ released titles, recently won an Indie Game award for our team's work on #RiftoftheNecroDancer, and my music has been described as "absolutely unhinged in the best ways possible" and "I dont know what genre of music this but I need to hear more of it"

I'll probably release the Intro post to this Series by / on Sunday.
I think there might be a couple of structural changes left to make on my blog first.

In this same vein, I want to include resources devs have found helpful on their journey.

Do you have any recommendations?

I plan to include Freya's guides to game dev math.
Harvard's free intro to Computer science
And the shader bible that's floating around somewhere on the internet.

I'm glad you've had such a warm welcome to the game dev community!

That's not a bad goal to start. It can be deceptively difficult depending on how you tackle it though! You got this~

The incremental progress can be addicting! Good luck on your game dev journey!

If you get stuck on something feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to help how I can.

Looks good!

Godot is pretty easy to start and well loved. GDScript is the default which is like Python (one of the easier coding languages).
And there are plenty of community plugins so don't reinvent the wheel!
Otherwise, GDevelop or maybe GameMaker, I think I heard they made good changes
Whatever calls to you

My sample size is not large! I've just helped people here and there. But because the ones I have worked with have enjoyed it, and there has been no major friction it seems like a worthy suggestion.
I'm not with any organization, just me.

I also leave myself open to any of their questions. Which is usually trivial things.
