Being stupid is a real disadvantage. AI + modafinil can fix it but you still need to be intellectually curious. And to the best of my knowledge, there is no fix for curiosity.

I would never have pardoned my son. Instead, I would have traded favors with those who could, and I'd be ready to go pretty far on that deal.

I just misread the title Autumn's Fables as Autism's Fables, and before realizing my mistake, I thought: "Yes, I’m getting that book—and maybe even drafting a few fables for a second volume."

I was today's years old when I realized that the entirety of Calculus was angry people yelling at God asking for a calculator and getting pencil sharpeners instead.
The limits, infinity, and continuity were self-inflicted wounds of feeling powerless against computational irreducibility.

you can keep reading fiction till the rest of your life and learn nothing out of it (Gwern in his podcast). That's similar to the parable of the bell: you can ring the bell and like the sound of it, and enjoy it every time you ring the bell, but that's not what the bell is for.
