I have to leave "what I used to be able to do" behind me. I can't move forward and grow with the goal to get back to the old, either. It's time to envelop myself with what I have in front of me. New eyes, new style... new touch.

I'm going to embrace the now.

It'll need editing, but I wrote 700 new words today. It's a horror poem loosely based on an unpublished short story. I've never "gone backwards" in length of project with an idea before. Maybe my brain is shrinking. 😆

I tend to write SHORT, or novel length. Not sure what I'd donwith this, unless I divided up a novel - which makes me wonder if that's worth considering??

I read a brief article about books under 100 pages becoming popular for commuters or people who want to have a read in one sitting. I was intrigued. I also wonder if it's trad-or-self pubbed. Is it worth considering for my future writing? 🤔

20 years ago at this time, we were in the lobby of The Frenchmen Hotel, probably watching Chester have a smoke.

In remembrance of all those who lost their lives and condolences to their loved ones. And hope that all who were physically and mentally uprooted can perhaps find a moment of peace today.

What are your thoughts on the apparent new trend towards "slim fiction" - 100 pages or less?

Happy Birthday!! I'm only a couple of sun trips behind you. 😉🥰

I just wrote a new poem and made myself laugh. It's longer than most of the stuff I write which I found interesting, but there it was, flying out of me like old coins at a casino.

I think I'll read it at the next Open Mic Poetry Night at the Waterloo Public Library on Sept 16th.

I you're going to read ONE short story this year, THIS should be the ONE.

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by my friend @rickhipson.bsky.social for his podcast called What Screams May Come. We talked about my book Katrina: After 20, and at the end I read from one of the earlier chapters during the storm.

My pal, @deanitaliano.bsky.social bravely shares his story of being trapped in a storm that took much from many, surviving the aftermath. Our chat Includes Dean reading a chapter from Katrina: After 20 in which a stranger's last words can still be heard 20 years after.
