DCU's Prof Debbie Ging @debbieging.bsky.social said that masculinity influencers “target men and boys by manipulating anxieties about their physical appearance, about financial insecurity and about loneliness or mental health issues”.

The slow creep of the manosphere into the mainstream.
“Many boys don’t seek out the manosphere deliberately – they are pulled in gradually by social media algorithms,” Prof Debbie Ging @debbieging.bsky.social explains.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

... as Sexual Violence and Harassment Prevention and Response Manager in UCC. Now that the MA in Gender and Sexuality Studies is commencing, I am very excited to see what new graduates will achieve in making Ireland a safer place for all to experience sexuality on their own terms.

I completed the MA in Sexuality Studies in 2012, and went on to do a PhD in Sexuality Studies in DCU afterwards… The course gave me the skills to become a media commentator in sexuality-related topics, and helped me to progress to my current role...

I wrote about "Boys in the Making" an exhibition by Dr Fiona Whelan and other artists in collaboration with boys and young men from youth projects and schools around Dublin. I really enjoyed meeting them - it's a very cool project www.irishtimes.com/culture/art/...

A Dublin project explores how the world shapes young men by helping some of them to create ‘boys’ as they really see them

I think I've found a way to articulate what bothers me about the trajectory of the modern tech industry (and to some extent... society).

We are on this Earth to provide for each other. That's the "mission" of humanity as I see it.

This is incompatible with what the tech industry seeks to do.
