Today is National Poinsettia Day. The beautiful flower is named after Joel Roberts Poinsett, who died this day 1851. He was a physician/botanist and the first American Ambassador to Mexico. He sent the samples back to South Carolina from Mexico. This flower has a long history in Aztec culture.
