"Does the alliance’s collapse open the gates for full-scale bank financing of fossil fuels? Or does it point to a lower-profile but possibly more effective financing path for the climate transition?"
BIG question for moving towards a safer #climate for all life.
Mark Carney's Net-Zero Banking Alliance is done. Now what?
The end of the global network could spell more bank financing of fossil fuels, or a more effective path for the energy transition

The pepper spraying of a praying Presbyterian pastor - who is white and in clerical garb - at a peaceful demonstration should tell you a great deal. The sequence described in the quote "First they came for..." is already well on the way to completion.

“failure is not inevitable, it is a choice” #climate, #biodiversity, land, freshwater, geochemistry, xenobiotic substances and now oceans - are all considered over the limit.
Of the 9, only ozone depletion and aerosol loading in the atmosphere remain in the 'safe' zone.

As many of us at this moment are honouring the life of Jane Goodall and lament her passing, following up on her message to create a basis for hope through our collective action is looking harder to achieve.
I will guess what she would advise...TRY HARDER.

Thankfully, the airwaves are not flooded with the grating voice of PP too often these days but that means he does not make himself readily available as an object of satire. Ah the good ol'days of delusion when becoming PM was a done dea in his mind.

Barney Panofsky's Best Intentions @mynamesnotgordy.bsky.social has been required to focus on the mayhem to the south of us, so to honour his commentary on Canadian struggles, I am posting this meme. Can be modified to suit almost any BS that is piled high

Witnessing from afar, as I and many do, is gut-wrenching but NOWHERE near the horror of being there or connected personally to those killed or maimed.
As so many who are traumatised daily & face huge losses still embrace working for peace, surely all who are afar have duty from love to also persist.

Roots and Shoots Peace Garden sign at the University of Guelph Arboretum in Ontario. Yet another #JaneGoodall legacy.
We CAN change the world" Dr. Jane Goodall, United Nations Messenger of #Peace. Dedicated by Dr. Jane Goodall, November 5, 2003.
Guelph Arboretum Roots and Shoots Peace Garden sign. The text reads: Root creep underground everywhere and make a firm foundation. Shoots seem very weak, but to reach the light, they can break open brick walls. Imagine that the brick walls are all the problems we have inflicted on our planet. Hundreds of thousands of roots and shoots, hundreds of thousands of young people around the world, can break through these walls. We CAN change the world" Dr. Jane Goodall, United Nations Messenger of Peace

Same nasty choice is happening in Ontario & other parts of Canada. Almost humorous as there is little space in jails and no spaces for inforced rehab if substance use is part of the issue. Fines are a joke as people have no $$
Next likely ludicrous decision - build more jails rather than housing.

BC social enterprise absorbs & redistributes excesses of fabric manufacturing.

Does #peace depend greatly on a 'level playing field'? I say YES.
"At the other end of the scale, the Nordics – including Iceland, Denmark, Finland &, to a lesser degree, Sweden – perform significantly better than the OECD average in terms of creating equal opportunities for all."
