The reason I know you know this framing is off is that people completely understand that an elderly person may be able to walk a short distance but won’t manage a whole airport and a bag. If you understand that about an elderly person, you understand a younger person may be similarly situated.

Nothing better for kids than making sure they are born to people who don’t want then but can’t afford to prevent them.

“Three younger sons who aren’t estranged” this one is 22 — how many of the others are even adults, and/or out of college?

A generational talent whose movies have defined my generation and have held up for my kids.

Any time I had a post with any traction I got a ton of harassing replies and could not block fast enough. Why would I willingly participate in that.

I mean I bailed in part because any time I posted anything that got any traction I was bombarded with gross posts and I literally could not block people fast enough or in large enough numbers.

I am as an actual faculty member wondering where my faculty lounge is.

I am a Brown alum who was finishing this last night while following the news. Then I woke up to this. So much heartbreak.

My classroom doors have a vestibule outside and then a second set of doors that lock. I am the furthest person from the door. But what am I going to do, ask a student in the back to sacrifice themselves to go lock the doors? I have spent too many hours of my teaching life thinking about this.

I was able to EBF my single babies, but when I had twins, I couldn’t make enough to put them on a growth curve.

I used to run an online parenting board (don’t ask about that either), and it was a different ecosystem.

This AM I was looking for a cord maker (don’t ask). AI popped up the internet wisdom @ which one to buy; I went down the source trail and it was one poster years ago on Reddit. Which if I see “oh it’s one Redditer” I discount accordingly, but the “AI answer” doesn’t do the discounting for you.

Every time a student complains about Canvas I do tell them every other course management system I have used is substantially worse

I was able to make it work as a lawyer. Because I had an office with a door that locked and a nanny who could sometimes bring me the baby. I can’t imagine what a person does if they don’t have that magic combo of privacy and flexibility.

My mother was gold so I am silver, my teen rebellion dictating my jewelry for eternity.

I remember the first time I was at a school doing a dean search how radical it was for a candidate to have said that the purpose of the school was training lawyers and creating knowledge.

They took the DVD players out of our classrooms “because no one uses them” (I used them weekly).
